I never thought that my last session in New Hampshire could so perfectly capture everything that I love about this state. Everything from the gorgeous landscape, the tranquility and quietness inherent in the small towns, and the unmistakable human connection before you- when nothing else matters except for where you are at the present moment. Well, okay, that last one has more to do with our affinity to relate with one another than with state lines, but I certainly found it in abundance with the families that I had the privilege of working with these past few years. I have had the absolute honor of spending time and laughing about life with some amazing people. It’s never lost on me that working with me is a decision people make, and one that I am truly grateful for. It is what I constantly keep in mind as I strive to provide them with images that will serve as timeless glimpses of how their lives looked and felt at the moment that image was created.

When Cortney and Aaron reached out to me for a maternity session, I was more than elated to be photographing an evening with their beautiful family. Greater still, however, was my elation at the opportunity to capture a family awaiting the changes that a new little one brings. This time, for them, is filled with such anticipation and longing that naturally brings with it it’s own form of excitement that comes easily through the lens. I was so grateful to be reminded of just how powerful the love of one’s family can be; the way your life can feel so complete with nothing more than a look or a smile from the greatest loves of your life. The Alexanders were just as charming as the scenery that surrounded them, and their little nugget, Luke, well, he was just delicious! He was full of boundless curiosity, observing every detail around him and learning just the way children do at his age. One smile or wink from Luke, and your heart instantly warms up, making you smile along with him.

Cort and Aaron, I wish you both all the best in this entirely new journey you are about to embark on, as a second baby adds yet another delightful dimension to family life, just as unexpectedly surprising as the first one did. This new chapter stretches your heart to a size you never thought possible, and once you’re there- it can never shrink back! Life is best lived one moment at a time, and some of the best ones are those spent celebrating the anticipation of those yet to come!

The Pearson Family. Just thinking about them puts a smile on my face. I absolutely love and adore them. I love that this year is the second one that I was honored to spend some time with them. To see how much they have grown in just a year’s worth of time, how much their hearts have grown with the welcoming of a little one among them, and just how much Danielle and Brian adore each other. Time has a funny way of creeping up on you, and before you know it so much has changed yet all the while you felt it had always stayed the same. The smiles are the same, their eyes are the same, even their voices are the same but there is something intangible that is quite different from who they were last year at the park throwing rocks into the lake and climbing on trees.

This year, this year is different. Every year is different. And every year you think that the next cannot possibly be different than the one you just lived through, but you will see that it is. As did I when it came time to photograph this beautiful family by the lake. The Pearson Family always bring with them this sense of absolute enjoyment of life, this joie de vivre when doing cartwheels on the dock, touching lily pads on the lake, or sailing little sail boats on the water.  It truly is an honor to spend these moments with them.

Danielle and Brian, you have an incredible family. I hope you enjoy these images, and I hope that they have captured your little ones as you see them. Sending lots of hugs and kisses!! I cannot wait to document how much they have grown next year!

My time in New Hampshire is quickly coming to an end, so when I get the chance to visit places that I fell in love with while living here it has special meaning. This beautiful family session is one of the last three sessions that I had scheduled during my last few weeks here in this gorgeous state, and it was along the seacoast! It is no surprise that I am love’s number one fan, and when Craig reached out to me and gifted his beautiful wife with a family session I was just so unbelievably happy for them. During our conversations, we decided on spending the time at the seacoast because it’s summer and the Weimer’s love the beach! Not only was the day absolutely perfect but this family was just incredibly warm and so loving. I knew instantly that they would have a blast and lose themselves in those moments where all that mattered was that second there on the beach on a warm summer day.

I am incredibly lucky to have met you. Your two little ones are such incredible people, so humble, hilariously funny, and with such a zest for life that it’s infectious! Watching them explore everything before them, and in the case of your young man completely diving into the ocean water head first is so telling of how open they are to life. Craig and Kelly, there aren’t enough words to express my sincere gratitude for allowing me to get to know your family and photograph those moments spent together on the beach! Sending lots of hugs and kisses!!

I always look forward to my newborn sessions, and I guess I could say it is the closest I get to knowing what it must be like to be a grandparent. I get to cuddle these tiny little bodies, rock them and take in all the newborn goodness that they exude. Little Colin was no exception. Hearing his adorable newborn sounds, the ones that you will only hear for a couple of months or so, was just perfect. Those faint sighs and raspy coos that extend beyond just self soothing, bring serenity to anyone who is listening closely. My newborn sessions tend to be my most peaceful ones without a doubt! Little Colin’s mom and dad, Renee and J were truly amazing to watch. They are already experts, raising two little boys in addition to their new little guy and you could tell that this family likes to have fun! I couldn’t even tell you the name of the bands in the music that they played throughout the house during our session, but it wasn’t anything remotely close to Debussy Clair de Lune! And I loved it! It worked it’s magic on Colin, who probably couldn’t be happier being in his own home. I love the level of comfort that bringing my newborn sessions right into the home of my families provides, and documenting them in their element is so inspiring.

Colin, without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, I know that your bigger brothers cannot wait for you two grow up just enough so that they can really have fun with you! I am sure that a lot of wrestling, playing tag, exploring in the woods, and rock throwing are in your future! I also know, the ultimate paradox of parenthood, that as much as your mom and dad love seeing you thrive there is still a part of them that wishes time would slow down. So make sure you sneak in some extra hugs and kisses here and there… that seems to work wonders.

As a mama of two little boys myself, I found myself quite smitten with the Fuhrmann family! There wasn’t anything the two little guys of this family could throw my way, that I wouldn’t be prepared for and I’m talking about going on a treasure hunt with pirates, exploring the sights and sounds of frogs, and getting dirty with some wet sand kind of stuff. The kind of stuff that spells F-U-N for little boys! This was my first New York family session this year, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect family to photograph! They explored right alongside each other, laughed at little things amongst themselves, and just reveled in each other’s company. It is magical for me, as a photographer, to see that happening right before my eyes. That is when every moment spent between them keeps the camera right by your eyes because you cannot imagine letting a second go by without documenting.

I hope that these photographs always remind you just how precious and beautiful your family is.
